Thanks to the wonders of Twitter and technology, we found out the bigger story behind the name of the Xilombe Tlakula Fundraiser of The year Award we received at Union Ball 2020. Thank you Beth for bringing this up!

We want this post to shine a bright spotlight on the amazing man Xilombe Tlakula was! While we did not have the honour to meet him, his work truly is limitless and this is the little we can do to make sure it stays this way!

We speak solely on behalf of ourselves, as MechSoc committee and for educative purposes, aiming to honour his award once again. We are grateful that the name of the award has in the meantime been brought back to the full name it deserves.
