CHARITY EVENTS & FUNDRAISERS
2020/21
This year has been challenging for everyone. While we very much stand for fundraising and volunteering and we love to help, due to the pandemic we have decided to focus on activities and events that do not require our members to donate money, as we understand these are particularly challenging times financially. At the beginning of the academic year we raised £180 for Samaritans while a team of 7 cycled 270km and we got involved in Movember.
Every 60 minutes, 60 men all around the world lose their life due to suicide. We want to help make a difference!
We placed in top 10 raising money from Uni of Surrey, our president had a weekly walking average of 7.6km/day, Rufus grew a fanTASHtic mustache and ran 60km and Chloe managed to walk 170km despite having a sprained ankle. Officially logged 469km, unofficially we walked and ran 1100km (technology is hard)

2019/20
Starting from scratch with a history of 0 volunteering outside of committee duties and no fundraising done, MechSoc has logged over 1100 volunteering hours up to March this year and sucessfully raised £1372 through 3 charitable events with unique causes: Breast Cancer, Men Mental Health and STEM Education. We collaborated with a new society, forming a lasting bond with Dodgeball after organising our Save Second Base charity barcrawl in aid of the Pink Ribbon Foundation and we mainained our good relationship with all departmental societies in FEPS, organising our anual FEPS Takeover night.
All around the world, October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth and we in MechSoc #ThinkPink💞
Alongside with our friends from Dodgeball we will be fundraising for #ThePinkRibbonFoundation
All profits from the fundraising page, barcrawl & the bake sales went directly to the foundation

SATRO is a local Guildford charity that aims to inspire young students to make STEM a part of their everyday life.
As signatories, we believe that we gave our members opportunities to get involved in the community, especially for a cause close to all of our hearts: STEM education.
